Hull Rockers, Let Man Loose Fight Back Against With November Virtual Online Tour
Having built a massive following in their hometown of Hull and gained radio traction from the likes of BBC Introducing, BBC Radio 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq, Planet Rock and Radio X, Let Man Loose are back with a new double A side single, ‘Young Thugs Studio’. It follows the success of their latest ‘Vol. 3’ EP and it’s singles ‘Victory Lap’ and ‘Bulldog’, which saw the band gain rave reviews from the likes of Earmilk, XS Noise and Soundsphere.
With a wealth of live experience, appearing on line-ups at Dot to Dot, 2Q and Long Division festivals, playing a sell-out show at Rough Trade Nottingham, as well as supporting the likes of Black Honey, Allusinlove and Zal Cleminson of The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, the band were excited for another year of relentless touring in 2020. Unfortunately like many artists, Let Man Loose saw their plans decimated by the onset of COVID-19.
A UK tour written-off, the band looked for new and interesting ways to keep moving forward, using the summer to release ‘Vols. 1–3’ on vinyl and CD, create the ‘Let Man Loose Podcast’ — interviewing various musicians from Hull’s bursting music scene — and collaborate with local Bone Machine Brew Co. on their own ‘Let Man Loose Juice’ beer.
Fresh-faced with new bassist Eric Dimmack joining the line-up, and Luke Scruton filling in for Jamie on guitar, the band booked into York’s Young Thugs Studio to record performances of two tracks from ‘Vol. 3’. Choosing to record live — instead tracking individually and to a click — the session resulted in a pair of frenetic and raw recordings, with new producer Jonny Hooker bringing the best out of the boys.
‘Young Thugs Studio’ is released as a double A side single with accompanying live session videos on Nov 27, 2020.
The band will support the release with a week-long online tour between Nov 21–27.
